"WBCN 2001 Rock & Roll Rumble
WBCN's annual celebration of the country's greatest local music scene returns in May. WBCN invites the biggest players in the music indutry to judge as twenty-four of the best bands in Boston go head to head. Past prize packages have included cash, recording time, advertising space, legal advice and gift certificates (not to mention huge amounts of publicity!). Past winners have included 'Til Tuesday, Gang Green, C60, Sheila Divine and Darkbuster.

PRELIMINARIES will be held at the Middle East Upstairs. All shows are 18+. Tickets are available for $7 thru Ticketmaster or at the Middle East Box Office.

Sunday, May 6th: Junction 18, Lamont, Flynn, Pennywheel.
Monday, May 7th: The Kitty Kill, Slater, Reach the Sky, Bleu.
Tuesday, May 8th: Diecast, Banjo Spiders, Jericho, Freezepop.

Thursday, May 10th: Gage, The In Out, Say Hi to Lisa, the Decals.
Friday, May 11th: Francine, Cracktorch, Johnny Wishbone, Garrison.
Saturday, May 12th: Kings of Nuthin', Euonym, High Ceilings, *AM Stereo.

SEMIFINALS: Friday, May 18th and Saturday the 19th at the Middle East Downstairs. Each of the Preliminary Winners and two Wild Card Bands perform. (18+, Doors at 9:00)

FINALS: Thursday, May 24th at the Middle East Downstairs. The two Semifinal Winners and a Wild Card Band advance to compete in the final round. Last year's Rumble winner, Darkbuster, will also perform. (18+, Doors at 9:00)
